I was in Toronto today and noticed the RadioCo (Kelcom) LTR is still alive. The only TG that was active was 1-01-065 which I am very sure is the ops for The Fringe Festival going on in the city.

Kelcom's (RadioCo) LTR still alive

It's been on the air for quite a while now. I can hear it all the time. It sounds like it's more rentals on there than dedicated users nowadays.
I have been wondering if this system was still alive as all the times I gone to the city over the last year I have never hear a peep from it, until last night. It sounds like some festival or event going on somewhere, I couldn't figure out who this was or what it was exactly but using 1-01-045.

I heard it this summer, as there was some sort of summer camp on it, from the sounds of it, it sounded like it was at a local theatre. I am guessing there are still LTR analog customers out there that still want to use it and want the wide area coverage.
Not to mention that the radios and repeaters have likely been paid for ages ago, it's pure profit for them at this point.
I am guessing we should update the name of this system as I noticed it is listed as Prairie Comm in the TAFL.

Now renamed to Prairie Communications - KELCOM
I'm surprised Kelcom hasn't gone and made them upgrade. Windsor Casino's 900MHz system was paid for and they were forced to upgrade last year and now have non stop radio issues over Connect Plus.
Same with Essex County Fire that was LTR Passport. Kelcom told them that system was too old and unsupported and now need to go to Connect Plus UHF. Now it's "sorry you have to go to Capacity Max as the radios on Con+ are no longer supported" (yet they still use the same XPR5550 mobiles and had to swap the 7550's for R7's)
Maybe they are working on something to swap it out since they are on a rampage upgrading stuff that doesn't need to be upgraded (and now work like garbage) LTR makes me miss the EDACS+ProVoice days

Surpisingly the Royal York and Exhibition Place in Toronto are also still using their LTR systems.

Looking back at the submission for Royal York Hotel, Matt found the system in 2012 and I found the talkgroups on my HomePatrol II during a couple of lunch breaks in April 2015. Seemed to only trunk track if you were sitting in the hotel.
It's been a while since I have checked but over a bunch of the previous years I would go and check to see if they have updated their system. But the last time I did check they where still using the LTR. Which reminds me that next time I am in the city I am going to have to walk down there and give it a check.
