Hello all. I've previously been able to monitor KENCOM dispatch and listen to a decent amount of activity on any given day. I understand that Kendall County FDs have switched over to VHF and I've reprogrammed my scanner (basic Radioshack Pro-91) based on the updated frequencies on the radioreference database. But since then, I've heard next to no traffic whatsoever.
I just wanted to find out if anyone else is having the same issue. I'm just not hearing any of the same type of and amount of traffic since the switch.

thanks!

I had the same issue today. I came up from LaSalle county and I heard no radio traffic from KENCOM for about 40 minutes. I finally did hear some traffic on the fire frequency (VHF) after I went into Kane County so I know they are still there.

The law enforcement UHF channels changed as well. The updated listings can be found in the database

As the database lists, the main dispatch frequencies are 155.5425 (167.9) Fire 1 and 154.1525 (162.2) Fire 2.
Once on scene, units should take traffic to one of the MABAS colored firegrounds primarily FG Red 153.8300 (69.3 PL) If you still don't get any traffic... maybe its a slow day ;)

I haven't listened to the KENCOM VHF fire channels yet, but I have been listening to their UHF police channel some recently. First of all, if you have the right freqs and PLs in, I would bet that it is just a slow day. I've sometimes gone all day (here in Kane County) with only hearing maybe 1 or 2 calls on Tri-Com's fire channel.
Also, speaking of KENCOM, does anyone have a list of their police/sheriff unit designators? The RR wiki explains them in a very general way that is not easy to make sense of after listening to their channel. Thanks!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am actually getting a little more traffic now (patience isn't always my strongest quality). I didn't even think to program the MABAS fireground frequencies.
Now I have to figure out which scanner is going to scratch my new-gear itch (currently have a RadioShack Pro-91). Not sure if I'm going to drop the bills for a digital scanner or maybe just get a simple one like the new Uniden BC125AT.

Yeah KENCOM has migrated away from the old UHF "department" firegrounds and moved to the MABAS fireground frequencies.
