Greetings all,
I'm new to the forums, and I've recently relocated to Kenosha County. I'm trying to map out tower sites within the county. Using the FCC call signs, I was successful in finding the large tower on 60th Ave/Green Bay Road, as well as the roof tower on top of the Sheriff's Office downtown. I am seeing some anomalies however, where one of the FCC licenses is saying that there is a tower on top of the courthouse. Searching Google Maps/Street View and/or sat images, I cannot tell if there is actually a tower on top of the courthouse or not. I'm also seeing discrepancies staying that there is a tower for WPMB614 located at (42.588640, -87.875360) which pings at the intersection of 56th Ave & Wis. 158. I am not able to locate a tower on imagery here, and it's just to the northeast of the 60th Ave tower site - I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume the two are one in the same? There is an additional one I'm suspicious of for KB41872, listed at (42.587810, -87.882280) which pins to a business at the intersection of 158 and Wis. 31/Green Bay Rd. Again, very close to the 60th Ave tower site (just northwest) and I see no evidence of a tower at this precise location based on imagery.
I'm wondering if there are any other primary broadcast towers for public safety comm in/near town and the Interstate-to-the-east, besides these two towers I've listed. I see that Pleasant Prairie has a license number and they have 4 towers apparently; three of which are located at the village water sites and one of which is located as PPFD Station 2. Can anyone confirm, and looking to see if there is anything else I'm missing east of the Interstate?
West of the Interstate, I'm also trying to locate tower sites for county comms. I'm having trouble locating the purported tower at/neat UW-Parkside. That tower is listed to 761 Green Bay Rd, but I cannot identify anything on maps for a physical tower at that location. The GPS pin is listed as (42.642530, -97.866750), which drops you just east of Green Bay Rd (GBR) in the wooded area between GBR and the main part of campus. I've searched on maps all these wooded areas and I cannot readily identify the tower site here.
Concerning the county west of the Interstate, I've identified a large tower at Kenosha County Public Works/The Kenosha County Center (19600 75th St). This will be the closest tower site to my receiving location. Having said, I'm most curious to know what frequencies they actually broadcast from the County Center tower site.
Farther out, there is also a tower site listed at/near Brighton Town Hall, but all I'm seeing there is a small cell tower. I'm wondering if anyone can confirm if they run public safety comms off that tower, or if it is somewhere else?
I have also located the large tower out to the west at pin (42.655398769050045, -88.18987415532496), which is just east of Burlington. But this is all I've found so far.
Does anyone know of other tower sites that I may be missing? FCC licenses say there should be one in Twin Lakes as well, but I could not locate it.
There are some pretty large gaps in my coverage map that I've added to the post! The STAR locations are the tower sites I've been able to pinpoint thus far.
Thanks for any help you can provide!
