Has anyone heard if there is going to be any changes made to Kent County's radio system in the means of adding sites and changing PL Tones???

Thanks Nate

Nathan,

The State is building several new towers in Kent (one will be at least 330' feet tall) and Kent will have access for public safety antenna placement. This should nicely fix the coverage gaps for the narrowband VHF fire freqs (only 3 freqs are tower repeated so far F1 - F3 {and there are varying input tones to accomodate different existing towers in the county}....the remaining freqs are simplex). The new towers will house DNR antennas (amongst others)....and will be a part of the backbone for the eventual statewide 700MHZ system. Kent is considering joining that future system....but the last I'd seen from the County Commissioners' minutes, they'd not yet formally decided on this. I'll post something if any new freqs will be added. No word on any PL changes, thus far.

Ok Dave,

Thanks I heard that they were doing some coverage testing at this time and also might be changing PL Tones on all Police and Fire Frequencies, but I cant seem to confirm this as they are still using their old PL tones. I was hoping Tolley or someone else from the ES might have better insight on this.

They have been doing a lot of radio testing in the last 3-4 weeks. All PD/FD PL tones remain unchanged at present. I did email someone who's directly plugged in over there in the 911 Center to see if any other changes are looming. Will let you know what I find out.

Kent County Police have changed PL tones for 159.210, earlier today all police units were advised to switch to Kent Law which is 159.210 with a new PL of 141.3. I have confirmed this by listening with a PL Tone Search.

This portion has been submitted to the database

I have also heard that Fire Communications will switch over sometime soon to new PL Tones. Please note that all frequencies will remain the same, just some PL Tones will change.

As I am able to confirm Fire Department units have switched I will submit those to the database.

Nathan
