Kenwood 2180

I bought a used Kenwood 2180 and it didn't come with a manual so I was wondering if anyone knew how I could check to see if it has one of the optional boards installed. When I take the battery off there is something with 2 screws that appear to be holding it in but I don't want to mess with it not knowing what it is. Also, does anyone know if there is a downloadable manual online? Kenwood's site does not have it online.

are you looking for a TK-2180 manual?

I would normally go here http://www.mods.dk for that stuff, but they dont seem to have it. Another option is www.rigpix.com but not their either. sorry.

perhaps the 2160 service manual or some of the other radios with similiar models can give you some clues?

try hitting your side function keys and the * and # keys (if you have dtmf pad) only real option board that would be it it would be the VGS-1 and that would activate the playback.
