Just bought a used Kenwood D710G. The unit is sending out beacons fine. It is not receiving any packets. Nothing on the station list or incoming. I have something shut off. Not sure what. Any help will be appreciated.

Check that all the packet filters are set correctly. On aprs.fi it appears that several stations are hearing you. If you're still having issues, go to the advanced manual and go step by step through each setting.

Updated firmware. Problem still exists. Next step is go through each setting and confirm. Thank-you N4DJC for your help.

The paper manual should have all the default settings listed. The advanced manual isn’t as easy to follow setting up a 710 from square one. I had an issue with mine receiving packets a while back and realized I had set something incorrectly.

Can you HEAR the packets coming in? If no, maybe your squelch is set to high, or maybe you simply aren't getting good reception of the local digipeaters. Make sure that you're not operating split (ie, Rx on one side, Tx on the other). It might help to post a picture of your screen to this thread, and give us a rundown of all the APRS settings in the APRS menu.

Thank you. My next step is to get together with a friend who has the same radio and we are going to go through setting by setting and compare

Yes, I see the packets come in but not showing any info. My next step is to get together with a friend who has the same radio and we are going to go through setting by setting and compare

What do you mean you see packets come but not showing any info. What happens when you push LIST? How to you have it set up to show received stations full screen, half screen, etc.. What do you have set up for Display Filter Functiion?

I didn't ask if you can see them coming in, but HEAR them. But ok, you can "see" them coming in. How? Do you see something like "OM NA1SS"? at the the top? If yes, you don't "see" information on that because it's a message for somebody other than you. Why don't you just list all the APRS settings here, there aren't many - just list the menu number and the value for each setting.

If the squelch is set to high the first of the packet is not heard and no decode. Make sure you don't have a tone set for APRS receive. 100 is used for a voice function I don't recall the naming convention, but is separate from using tone receive.

No tone or offset. Checked squelch. Set correctly. My next step is I am meeting a club members with the same radio. We are going to go through every menu item one at a time and compare. I’ve done everything I and all of you have thought of. Reset the radio, reloaded firmware. I’m stumped.

I see you are getting into ROLLYV which is a RX iGate only. Where is the closest digitpeater to you?

Because there are so many settings it is extremely difficult to diagnose this by message. An alternative would be to show us all your settings.

Further update: I cloned a fellow members TM-D710G. and used his setting etc. Still not receiving packets. My next step is to reinstall the firmware on both the control panel and main unit. I have the firmware for the control panel. there is no firmware listed for the main unit. I was told that "Firmware Updating Program TM-71/D710 Main Firmware Update Version 2.10" is what I use. is this correct?

Further update. I got together with a radio tech. He determined that the packets are coming in but the data isn’t being interpreted. The station list is blank, my position is blank, and the PMON is showing corrupt carrier data. I have changed the cable from the main unit to the control head. All settings have been confirmed correct. My next step is to try a different control head. I am thinking there is a hardware issue.

I don't see anything about FW Ver2.10, but did notice Control Panel Ver. 1.03 June 26, 2019. Not likely to fix anything, but you never know. From what I recall for updates on my non-G 710 from years back the control head is primary for processing packet information.
