I recently sourced a D71A with a pre-B861 serial number so it would have the DTMF chipset for remote control. I plan to use it primarily for crossband so I wanted to be in compliance.
This is my first Kenwood, so I'm not super familiar yet with the controls, but I have the manual and I've set everything by the book.
The CW auto ID was easy and it worked properly. I followed the manual and entered a, "secret code" and activated the remote control. After trying 4 different Yaesu's and a TYT I was not able to get any response to my DTMF inputs.
I switched it back to crossband which works fine but now the radio no longer ID'S.
I've gone over all the settings ad-nauseum, I'm at a loss. Anyone with experience have any ideas? I've read countless threads and tried and double checked everything I could find.
