If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Is there a way to connect the desk mic RJ45 to a Kenwood handheld with the two pin connector?

Operator prefers the desk mic. Prefer to use the handheld because of space limitations.

Thanks

No, won't work. The KMC-9C microphone requires power that it pulls off the RJ-45 mic jack on the mobile radios. The two pin portables do not supply power on any of the pins.

You could probably supply an external 12vdc, but it's going to be a messy setup that'll probably get damaged easily.

Get a larger desk, install an appropriate base radio with an external antenna and proper power supply.

^^^THIS.
Last time I had to deal with a customer that insisted on using a handheld for their base dispatch, they would pick up the radio, make their call, 2 or 3 transmissions, then put it back in the charger. Then they wondered why their batteries would burn up after about a year.

Ritron makes a nice low power desktop base unit, it does not need an external mic. Runs off of AC or 12 Volts, no more dead batteries. They also have a DMR model.
