I wouldn't say it's unlikely. The hardware to do it already exists in most P25 capable scanners. The protocol is pretty open and not any trade secret. I think that until the manufacturers decide there is a big enough demand (and profit) to add the function, we won't see it. Remember, the scanner manufacturers want you to regularly purchase new equipment from them. MotoTrbo/DMR and NXDN are something that we will likely see in scanners in a few years, but only when they decide that the market is there to support them.

Take a look at DSD and a discriminator tap, i use the setup mostly for the busy MOTOBRO ambulance service system, but successfully listened in on the NXDN system at the small college in town.
