• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

LTR not in this one, it will be forthcoming.

I am working on my radios right now, but there are others things in this release I have not come across yet.

Evans, please jog my memory...Is any version of the programming software capable of programming channels with "wide" deviation on analog (16K0F3E) as opposed to "narrow" deviation (11K0F3E) for those services where "wide" is still allowed?

I am a lineman for the county.
Not 100% sure about the NX-5000 line, but last time I checked, all the KPG softwares limited the radios to narrow band on the 150-174MHz and the 420-470MHz sections of the bands.
I just filed for a "W" license about 2 weeks ago and the form didn't have an option for the KPG-1DNK software. Not sure if the W/WDE license form is just out of date or they are handling it a different way.

I didn't have any trouble at all getting a W license for use on Part 80 frequencies as well as a few channels we use for broadcast RPU's. No trouble at all putting other NX series radios on 2 meters. 70CM's requires the W license due to 70cm amateur allocations being secondary.

Only below 148mhz. All else is narrow for compliance in the US.

I don't have the new FW/SW yet, but are you able to assign a key to "Channel info"?
I'd imagine that would be all there is to it.

What type of connection doess the KCT-72M make?

Sent via Tapatalk

External Accessory Connection Cable for KCH-19M / KCH-20R* *Available in 2015 3Q

KCH-19M - Standard Control Head
KCH-20R - Full Feature Control Head

If I recall from the intro power point, this puts the aux connector on the remote head mount?
Our price guide leaves little to go on. Sorry. I am waiting for the multi RF DECK to come out
so I can put my VHF and UHF together and use the KCH-20R.

* Side Note *
Hands-free operation
To promote driver safety and meet hands-free regulations in certain regions,
NX-5000 series mobile offers external microphone and PTT as options.
NOTE: Connecting to the radio via DB25 terminal on backside of RF Deck
or via optional KCT-72 "Connection Cable" on backside of KCH-19M and KCH-20R*.
KCT-73MIC is not compatible with other NX/TK-mobile radios.
*Available in 2015 3Q

Channel Information Setting (softkey)

I will work on that today (4-12-15) and post any screen shots that I can.

Okay, as plain and as simple as I can put it,
1; for conventional use only

a: Channel Name
b: Zone-Channel Number
c: Frequency
d: Tone / DPL
e: RAN code

Can be programmed to the A/B Lever. Can not be used is DISPLAY FORMAT is used on a PF or menu mode.

(see help file of version 1.40 or newer)
