• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

It should be in the same folder where the programming software is installed.

Ask your dealer to send it to you. It's not just some free thing either. Has to be registered and authentic, before you can open and authentic KPG-d1.

Do these radios have any features comparable to the TFS option of the X90 radios?

Not 100% sure about the NX-5000 line, but last time I checked, all the KPG softwares limited the radios to narrow band on the 150-174MHz and the 420-470MHz sections of the bands.
I just filed for a "W" license about 2 weeks ago and the form didn't have an option for the KPG-1DNK software. Not sure if the W/WDE license form is just out of date or they are handling it a different way.

I didn't have any trouble at all getting a W license for use on Part 80 frequencies as well as a few channels we use for broadcast RPU's. No trouble at all putting other NX series radios on 2 meters. 70CM's requires the W license due to 70cm amateur allocations being secondary.

It means "DON'T BUY FROM ME, I AM NOT A DEALER."

If they are NOT listed on this page Find your dealer - KENWOOD USA they are NOT a dealer.

This is a third party vendor, you will loose out on any warranty work
if you bought your radio from them. PERIOD. Don't believe me, ask Kenwood.
Dealers are not allowed to sell on the internet, Commercial grade radios.
THIS INCLUDES SOFTWARE. They are in violation and they will be dealt with.

YOU HAVE BEEN ADVISED!

PLEASE NOTE – Export Compliance ECCN 5D992
Certain JVC Kenwood products are U.S. export controlled and your JVC Kenwood business agreement requires
compliance with all applicable laws including the export, re-export and deemed export laws and regulations of
the United States as well as the import laws of any destination country or entity. LMR transceivers,
encryption modules, key loaders, radio FPUs and technology (e.g. tech. support & training) are export
controlled by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry & Security per the
Export Administration Regulations (EAR) [refer to www.bis.gov].
It is the dealers responsibility to follow all applicable laws.

I work for a legit dealer. They are not in my list of authorized Dealers for LMR.

I completely understand dealers only, and am in no way trying to purchase from someone that is not legit. I'm located in California and I am unaware of any local dealers so my only option it to look towards the web.
