Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello everyone, I’m brand spanking new to Kenwood portables. ( APX 8000 owner). I’m interested in a UHF Kenwood NX5300 F6 full keypad. My question is simple, are all 3 modes ( P25, DMR, NXDN ) set installed right from the factory? The radio I’m looking at is new open box, but does not say anything other than it’s UHF. Help me understand this guys. Is there a way to tell what’s installed? The seller does not have knowledge of Kenwood radios to that extent.

No, typically they only come with NXDN, unless otherwise noted. You need to read the radio with LMC300 to see what licenses are on it.

You can put all 3 licenses on it, but you can only have 2 active at once.

The NX-5300 can have 3 active formats at the same time Analog and any 2 Digital of 2 3 or 4 but not all 3 Digital at the same time.
1. Analog
2.NXDN
3.DMR
4.P25
Got it! So analog is standard, and DMR, NXDN,P25 are digital add ons. Only 2 of those digital add ons can be active at the same time with the analog, correct?

Yes That is correct
That is not saying you cannot have all 3 Digital License for the NX-5300 installed, but you can only have 2 ACTIVE at the same time.
The trick would be have a laptop handy with multiple profiles and switch in the field just would be a small pain but it would work.

Interesting…I would only use P25 and DMR right now. There is no NXDN in our area at this time. But it would be nice to have installed just in case.
