• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I noticed that the new Kenwood NX-5400 (800 mhz. version) will do P25 both Phase 1 and 2. Stupid question: Does that mean it will work on a Motorola system? There area I live in LOVES some Motorola. I am a huge Kenwood fan myself. How much does the NX-5400 cost? Thank for any information you can provide!

Yes, they'll work with Motorola systems.

List price (with some work, you can purchase for less than list price)

NX-5400 full keypad 700/800MHz 3 watt portable $875.00 (standard keypad is $825.00) includes analog and NXDN Type C trunking.
KPG-D1NK programming software $155.00
KPG-36XM programming cable $158.00
KPT-300LMC license manager client -free- required to add licensed functions below.

Required for P25:
KWD-5100CV P25 conventional $575.00
KWD-5101TR P25 Phase 1 Trunking $520.00 -requires KWD-5100CV
KWD-5102TR P25 Phase 2 trunking $400.00 -requires KWD 5100CV and KWD-5101TR

Required for radio:
KRA-32K 700/800MHz Whip Antenna $35.00
KNB-L2M Li-Ion 2600mAh Standard battery $135.00
KSC-32 Rapid rate single unit charger $70.00

P25 Phase 2 would be pointless since without the system key, you won't be able to program your radio for that. There may be some work around, but I've never heard one one for these specific radios.

Remember that "list" prices are just a suggestion. You should be able to get it for less than list. Under state contracts I purchase under, we get 30% off list. As an individual you probably won't be able to do that.
