When using a Kenwood NXR 700 in simplex mode, will the external antenna relay from a TKR 750 perform correctly or is there an alternate model, or can simplex only be accomplished with two antennas

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

The NXR repeaters have programmable pins on both the 15 pin molex connector and the DB-25 connector on the back that could be set up to control an antenna relay.
However, the NXR-700 will allow you to use a single antenna. From the service manual:
3-4. Antenna switch
If a common antenna is used for the transmitter signal
and receiver signal, switch transmitter and receiver signals
by connecting CN19 to the RX Unit.
If different antennas are used for the transmitter and receiver,
it functions as an On/Off switch for the transmitter
circuit.
I don't have one of these units in front of me right now, so I can't open it up and see how easy it is (or not). I can see the CN19 connection on the drawings, but I don't know what type of connector it is. The description is sufficiently vague.

You basically cut the coax behind the RX BNC connector, strip it and solder it to lands on the final board. I think there is a jumper or two also to enable the pin diodes. This will make the TX connector common for T/R. My docs on this are at the other shop. May not get back there for a while.
