Are there any Kenwood programs that will run on a Mac? I've come up dead on a search.
I'm specifically looking at KPG 49D and KPG 7D.
I have the KPG49D currently on a Windows 7.
Thanks,
Delta
No. All PC.
I have successfully run a few under VirtualBox, however never tried programming a radio that way. I've heard it doesn't work, and I have no need to actually try.
I have actually used Mac for five years now. I run VMware on my MacBook Pro and use that software, running Windows 7 as a Virtual Machine inside VMware.
I've actually used the KPG-49D software on my Kenwood 2180's and 3180's as I recall.
I have programmed a countless number of radios with this setup and I have never ran into any major issues. One issue was my Mac recognizing my USB cables, but I found that when I ordered and used programming cables with FTDI chips, instead of Prolific chips, they work fine on Mac, and Windows. Prolific chips do not like to work well on Mac, and VMware could not recognize the Prolific chips in Windows because Mac could not recognize them first.
Other than that, it works great! I use a KeySpan 19H Serial-to-USB adaptor for my serial cables, which works great with older radios.
