Title says it all. Yesterday my R2000 was working fine, but last night when I turned it on for some reason it won’t broadcast audio from the built-in speaker. I can hear audio through headphones just fine, but the front panel speaker is inop. Can anyone advise me of a fix for this?

Check the obvious things first.

It may be the headphone jack. Try pushing in and pulling out the headphone plug a few times. When you pull the headphone plug out the contact in the headphone jack should shut to allow the speaker to be activated.

Open the cover and check for loose connections or bad solder joints.

What Jim says plus check the external speaker socket on the back panel. The feeds to the speaker and the sockets come from two small 2-pin plugs and sockets on the PLL boards - they may have worked loose or got oxidised.

Same problem encountered with a Baofeng HT few years back. . Prolonged use of the speaker mic caused no audio from speaker, due to bent phone jack contacts. Try that first.
