• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have ordered new NX 5700's and 5800's first week of April. Radio shop put in orders next day. Here I am still waiting, being told it may not be until End of May before they leave kenwood. Also the same shop is waiting on about 20 other units for other departments.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Are there any options in your order that require a custom build from the factory? When you finally receive them, they may have a manufacture date on them only a few weeks old. The long delay and backorders could be because Kenwood is waiting for them to be built.

When I ordered a TK-5210K3 VHF P25 handheld several years ago, I had to wait about a month to get it because Kenwood had to wait for it to be built. I have the IP67 waterproof submersible option and that was a special order custom build from the factory. Nobody could find out the status and it seemed like the order went into a black hole for a while before it shipped. When I finally received the radio it included tuning data from the factory that was about 2 weeks old.

Good luck.

I have some NX-5800K2's on order, and have been told this particular model is back ordered until sometime in July.

Hiding in a coffee shop.
Yeah, they are selling a lot of them, so there is a bit of a backlog.

Most dealers do not stock these sorts of radios in any quantity, usually relying on Kenwood to ship when they are ordered. Due to demand, it can take a few weeks.

Patience is key. These are not consumer radios, so it's not like going down to WalMart and picking one up.

Did you check to see if any decks only are available? Do a remote kit.

Well, according to my factory rep, there are no K2's at all except for about a dozen or so refurbished units. My customer wants new only, so they are waiting.
