My Kenwood radio, for some reason, is all the sudden having receiving problems, I cant hear far away repeaters all the sudden when my Scanner and Motorola pick them up no problem, Ive gone through, reprogrammed the radio, and I still have the same problem, the signal strength meter shows that when it does receive a signal its extremely weak. Ive contacted Kenwood, but havent heard anything from them. Any ideas?

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Send the radio to your local Kenwood Depo for service. That may be your best route to go

O yeah, Ive tried all the portable antennas ive got, that would be about 11. But yeah Ive deprogrammed it and reprogrammed it. Ive tried chaning the squelch settings. Pretty much all I can think of on my end. Now its time for the Kenwood people to do their part.

Check your tuning.
Thanks cowboy, when I checked the tuning, I realized that for some reason, when I reprogrammed the radio after adding some frequencies, it didnt change to 450-520, so it programmed tuning for a 400-470 model. It never even gave me the model difference warning. But I reprogrammed it to the K3 Specs and its workin fine now. Thanks guys.
