If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello,

I have quite a few of the Tk-380 radios and wanted to try to also incorporate the Baofeng UV5R radios to work on the same frequencies. Is this possible to extract the frequencies that the TK-380 handheld radios are using and clone those frequencies into the Baofeng UV5R? If some one has done this before that could help me thru this would be great or if you have any information on this would be helpful also.

I appreciate it.

Thank You

Paul

I'm assuming you do not have the programming cable and software for the Kenwoods, correct?

Simplest way, if that's the case, is the "close call" feature (or search) on a scanner...key up a Kenwood and see what frequency and tone it displays.

What are the Kenwood radios being used for? Meaning, just simplex on GMRS or something? Just curious.

You will need KPG-49d Kenwood programming software for the TK-380's as well as the programming cable.

Read the radio and save the results.

You will have to manually transfer the frequency, ctcss/dcs info from the KPG-49d to the Baofeng software. The files are totally different, so you cannot transfer the file directly out of one radio into the other brand.

I have ordered a programming usb cable and trying to find the software. I am hoping this will not be to hard to do and it will work. The Kenwood radios are being used for simplex and a repeater. I found that Baofeng radios and they looked pretty well made and they were at a cheap price.
