I was wondering if there is a way to program banks into the Kenwood TK 380. I have over 200 channels programed in a list.I have the KPG-49D. I would like to have separate banks for the fire and police departments and the ems channels.I just can not figure out the software. Any help would be great.Thanks in advance

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Stand back, you're about to be confused. Yes you can have banks and channels, but it depends on the radio format as to how it's laid out. Read the radio and then click on "model". See if your radio format is trunking or conventional.
For conventional, the banks are called groups and the channels are called, well, channels. You can put channels in one group, click on group up, and start a new bank with more channels. You would then program the rotary knob for channel select and a couple of buttons for group up/down.
If the radio is set as trunking format, then the banks are called systems and the channels are called groups. You would set up a number of "systems" (either trunked or conventional) and the add the groups (channels) to each system. Then program the rotary knob for group up/down and a couple of buttons for system up and system down.
If your model format is set as trunking and you don't have any LTR systems to put into the radio, I would suggest you change it to conventional to make things simpler for you. Be advised though, changing format will erase all the data and you will hve to start from scratch. You always save an archive before you make any radical changes, right?
