To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Anyone know what the settings are in the programming for the TK-7150 to get the alphanumeric names to show up on the screen of the radio? I have a name tag for each channel typed in but when I power up the radio they aren't there. I have looked through the programming software several times but I guess I must be missing something in it. Any help would be appreciated.--Thanks!

What is it showing?? In the Kenwood software for my radios under optional features on Common Page 1 look for Zone Name Text Length see what that is set to. Look at Sub LCD Display should be set to CH/GID Number. Check Display character make sure that is set to CH/GID Name, if that is set to CH/GID number that would explain why you are not seeing your tags.

I found the problem. I had the zone characters set at 12. I changed that to 0 and then all the channel names were there. Thanks for the reply!
