Kenwood TK-805D scan function question

I have four Kenwood TK-805D radios that I am having an issue with programming. I saw there were some changes with the front panel programming after 4120000 serial number, but did not know if that affected the scan feature when programming the radios with the KPG-6D software. Programmed four radios the same with the software. The older ones (below the 4120000 serial number) will not scan when the scan button is pressed. The newer ones (above 41200000) will scan once the scan button is pressed. Any ideas why the older ones won’t go into scan mode?

Did you perform a Memory Clear prior to programming? I don't exactly remember if that was the issue I had with the 805Ds we used, but I do remember clearing the old memory prior to programming helped something.

is the mic clip grounded?
Might be off hook scan versus no off hook scan.

After I made the post, I thought about grounding the mic and sure enough, once I grounded the mic scan worked fine. The off hook scan option was checked on the CPS and works fine with the radios that are above the 4120000 serial number, but below 41200000 off hook scan did not work. It would only scan when grounding the mic. So, it would appear off hook scan, may not be an option with the radios below 41200000, even though it is an option in the CPS, unless there is some other way to have off hook scan on the older radios.

Thanks for the feedback. The 805Ds were solid, reliable affordable radios, but Wideband only. I don't recall if they were Part 95 GMRS type accepted, but they would be a great GMRS mobile even today . They can also be front-panel programmed, but I always used the computer and software since I had it. I think you have some great radios for a long time in the future with those.
