Kenwood TK-8180 Frustration

I have two (2) Kenwood TK-8180 UHF radios and am having no success programming them to SCAN. I have programmed Kenwood radios for over 20 years and have never had this problem. In fact, to me, Kenwood LMR radios are ultra-simple to program. But all of a sudden, I cannot seem to program these two to SCAN. I have used the same key assignment for years on TK-7150, TK-8150, TK-7180 and TK-8180:

S - SCAN
A - SCAN ADD/DELETE
<B - ZONE DOWN
C> - ZONE UP

I have looked over every codeplug entry in the software and cannot seem to find anything that would cause the radio to not SCAN. This has happened on both of the two I have recently acquired. I am operating a TK-7180 VHF right beside this one and using the same key assignments and it SCANs just fine. I'm hoping somebody can help me figure this out. H E L P!!!

Off hook scan box checked?

No - what does that do and could that be causing both radios to not scan? I've programmed both with the same codeplug.

If the microphone is not on hook, or the microphone is damaged/modified/after market, etc. it can keep the scan from functioning.

Without it checked, if the mic is off the metal hanger, the mic is missing, damaged, etc. it will not scan.

Made the change you suggested and I'm back in business. SCANNING AS USUAL!!

I had a similar problem with a 8180 the other day that drove me nuts. In scan the radio was going in carrier squelch, and in non scan mode but receiving a local repeater I was in CTCSS mode like I prefer. Make sure the ac control is unchecked in the scan screen where set up the scanning. I run everything analog on the ham frequencies.
