Im thinking of buying a programming cable for my Kenwood tm-281a and im also thinking of buying a signalink cable.
Then the thought crossed my mind could a single cable do double duty or are they completely different setups?

Kenwood sells the KPG-46U programming cable for the TM-281. That's the same programming cable used on many of the LMR mobile radios. The KPG-46U will not support audio in/out on that cable.

The RJ-45 pinout on the LMR radios does not include an audio output. Not sure if the ham radios are the same.

I have the Maxtop APCRS232-KR22M46 serial cable. I also have the Valley Enterprises USB KPG-46 FTDI cable.

And mmc is correct no RX audio on the Mic jack.
