2. Kenwood and other brands had bad ceramic filters installed years ago for a particular batch. I believe they were the Toko filters. Anyways, I have had two or three Kenwood D710 radios that I sent back when the filters went bad. Fortunately, Kenwood repaired them for free. I just had to coordinate the return first by providing the serial number. The Kenwood repair center shipped it back on their dime. I contacted Leo Fahmie, first to coordinate/approve the return, but I am unsure if he is still with Kenwood. I believe the serial numbers for the bad V71 a were 903 to 003.

The audio on my radios with the bad filters was low and crackly. I think another way I tested was to adjust the radio from wide to narrow, which cleared things up to confirm that was the issue before getting the RMA from Leo. Basically, he sent me an email which I printed and included with the radio when I sent it in. I only sent the radio and not the mic, nor the head (or faceplate) for your V71.
I own several TM V71A mobiles used as a base and mobiles. I'm having audio issues when listening to repeaters in my area. The audio is very basely and muffled. I have some hearing issues but I don't have the same issue when using other mobiles or portables.
Has anyone had similar issues and identified a possible solution. Any suggestions will be appreciated.p
