Kenwood: Kenwood TS-50s & LDG Z100A auto tuner not working togeter

Radio: Kenwood TS50S
Autotuner: LDG Z100A
Interconnect: Cable supplied to connect the 2 together.

Issue: The tuner does nothing, does not light up etc…when CW or and AM carrier is sent.
The AT control button has does not affect this.
Have read both manuals.
How do I get the radio to activate/use the tuner. I realize there is the AT-50 any=utotuner for this rig but shouldn’t a different tuner be useable?

Your cable is the IC-KT made by LDG? I see that cable is listed as being compatible with the KT-100 tuner but the Z-100A is not mentioned.

I found this and it might be exactly what the IC-KT cable is or it might be different. For the cable shown in the article its does say:

Using the tuner with this cable is simple:

- Press TUNE button on LDG
- Press AT TUNE button on TS-50
- Wait for a match
- REMEMBER to shutdown the carrier pressing again AT TUNE on TS-50

PRCguy, Its the IC-106 cable.

The IC-106 is not listed as working with the TS-50 but the IC-KT cable is. You might contact LDG to see if there is a simple mod for your cable to make it into an IC-KT or copy the diagram in the link above where it looks like they placed a resistor across a few pins.
