Our fire department has switched to the Kenwood VP 8000, issue I've found is like many hand helds they work awesome most of the time while out in the field but monitoring while at home the reception is spotty and I only hear about half of our dispatch, is it possible to use a external antenna to boost reception if so what type should I use I've heard use a discone antenna or a GP series we are on a trunked system I believe in the 7-800 MHz range
