Hello. This was posted at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SCANnorCAL/ Tuesday:
For those folks that scan Kern County Sheriff's Dept ....
Due to staffing shortages in our comm center we have made the following
changes in our radio line up. What we call our metro channel (453.050)
is no longer used. All metro bakersfield traffic is now on our Admin
channel (460.575). West Dispatch (460.100) and East Dispatch (460.225)
are not changed, but are patched together as needed (which is quite often).
If you happen to be listening and hear a unit on the old Metro Channel
(453.050), you will hear a beep when they unkey their mic. That is just
a tone to remind them that the channel is no longer monitored in the
comm center. All of the radios and consoles still show "Admin" channel
on the one used for metro dispatch now, but we are just calling it Metro
dispatch for now. Basically the function of our admin channel has been
moved to the primary dispatch channels or on the phone.
Once we can get staffing back up to what it should be, we will go back
to our old way of doing things and use the channels as designed. With
only 39% of the needed number of dispatchers we have had to make some
real changes. We are working on hiring and training more people (soon, I
hope) ...
Just wanted to let anyone who scans Kern County know what channels to
listen to.
