• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi there

I have an XTS5000 with an 8 algorithm module installed, KG1 DES-OFB KG2 DES-XL KG3 DVI-XL KG4 DVP-XL KG5 DVI-SPFL KG6 AES-256 KG7 ADP KG8 AES-GCM

OK I know that our system uses AES and DES, the radio is programmed as conventional ASTRO25 with OTAR Multikey, I have all keys stored in the radio and I can see them in the CPS, but I am having a problem when I turn the radio on it reads right away and gives a tone saying " KEY FAIL and ENC FAIL " and when I turn the knob below ch to secure TX I see a O with a line trough it but immediately I see " NO KEYSET and KEY FAIL " with a beep sound.

OK now I turn my friends radio on in same channel exact same programming and when I turn his radio on I see on the upper screen mid level it reads AES and he's radio is working fine so what the heck and to top it off he only has 3 algorithms DES-OFB DES-XL and AES-256.

The only big difference between both radios is that my radio is an XTS5000 III and his is an XTS5000 II

So in other words mine is a model 3 his is a model 2 but both have the exact same programming.

Any ideas.

Have the keys actually been loaded to the radio with a KVL? CPS has nothing to do with loading key values when it comes to AES or DES.

Ask your crypto officer or your agency's radio shop to load them for you.

Key Fail indicates that you don't have any keys in your radio or you don't have them programmed and selected right in CPS.
It's impossible to see keys in CPS unless it's an ADP key with software encryption. The only thing that you can see in CPS is the key name and key ID.

Mod 2 vs 3 does not matter.

His radio is showing "ᴓӔS" because he has the key loaded and selected in CPS.
