If you have time, the Amtrak station on South Front St. in downtown Cumberland is a good place to railfan. Also, Industrial Blvd south of the downtown area is directly across from the CSX yards. You have to drive several miles to get to it. It is called Md Rt 51. You may want to check the Md database and look up Railroads. There are several freqs that are listed for the hump yard and the shops that are located directly across from Rt 51. I don't know exactly where a good place to park to see them there. The Amtrak station is in a very congested area with one way streets, but I believe there are signs to point you to it. You can go to the Amtrak website and put in Cumberland. I think there is a Map on that site that you can zoom in on to get a better idea of the streets around the station. Also, the Holiday Inn sits on the west side of the tracks across from the yards just above the station. They do have a webcam and used to give discounts to railfanners. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask. Have a safe trip.
