I recently spoke with an officer who said that Kiefer PD was seeking a grant to purchase equipment to communicate with Creek COSO on the 800 MHz system.

now kellyville and mounds need to try and follow along

I think Mounds has some bigger problems right now from the sound of things.

However, why does Mounds and Kellyville to to be on the 800mhz system?

That is probably the same grant Mannford was seeking. I believe if Mannford is awarded the Police, Fire, and EMS will go 800. They were getting help with the grant from the Creek County So since they are switching over.

Kellyville and Mounds should go 800 since Creek County SO dispatches for them as well as Keifer

If they can't provide thier own 24 hour dispatcher, maybe they should look at Creek County providing all law enforcement services to those respective areas. What's the advantage of having a small police force of only 1 or 2 officers? Wouldn't it be easier and more cost effective to have the county take over law enforcement duties in those areas?

Tulsa Fire dispatches for Berryhill,Catoosa, and Oak Grove fire departments as well as there own. So should those 3 just let Tulsa take over since they dont have dispatchers?

Maybe its more cost effective to let someone else dispatch for you.

YES. I have seen it on the eastcoast where they have county police. One dispatch, jail and so forth. it works great. Problem here is local control and some state laws. Most mayors/city councels want to control everything
and the county usually wont stand for that type of interferrance. Enforcement of city ordinances is another. SO's only enforce state laws. A law would have to be passed to allow this. Otherwise the cities would loose all those lucrative ticket income. Ever been to Bixby on a court night. I was last year and their must of been 300 people their. That is inocme.

I've never been to Bixby on a court night. I've never entered over 100 citations into the computer in one night either. :) I darn sure never saw any of that income. :D

I know why a lot of mayors/city councils want to control things. They are afraid that these hillbillies that plague our area would muck things up. Unfortunately, some of these mayors/city councils ARE in fact backwoods hilljacks.

I can't really respond to Medic. I asked a question and didn't really get an answer from him. Also, there's no way to really compare fire departments and law enforcement agencies. There are so many differences. One being, fire departments don't really bring in any revenue, law enforcement agencies do. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

That, and I suppose someone might gripe that this isn't really "radio talk".
