Although I have been hearing traffic on the Kilgore VHF frequencies, this article appeared in the Kilgore newspaper a few days ago.

Kilgore PD's new digital radio system goes online

The City of Kilgore has announced Kilgore Police Department has made the switch to a new digital radio system.

Incidentally, I have seen the KPD dispatch active on the Kilgore tower in TDMA mode a few times. I can NOT verify that the city has actually made the switch.

The activation of the Kilgore TxWARN site allowed Gregg County Sheriff to migrate almost fully to TxWARN.

The TxWARN database has talkgroups for GCSO and Kilgore, although I think the KPD dispatch TG is still listed as a patch among Longview TGs.

Yeah, I've been hearing KPD sporadically using their TG over the last few weeks but it is come and go. I'm still hearing KPD on their old VHF channel although the audio is very muffled now. It is weird. A dispatcher/officer will be communicating and it be on their TG but then by the end of the conversation the communication goes back to their VHF channel.

From what I am hearing it sounds like there may still be a patch in place to VHF. I am too far away to hear the VHF repeater to confirm.
