So I was wondering if you guys have any creative solutions to a situation I have. Currently have a discone in the attic and cable running to the second floor where I normally listen. I'm getting kicked out of that room for a while (don't ask lol) to a room on the first floor. Since its temporary I really don't want to go through the headache of routing the cable to the first floor. One option is leaving the scanner upstairs and setting up Proscan so I can listen downstairs but not sure I'll be able to dedicate computer(s). Seems like it would be something on Start Trek but maybe there is some hardware on the market that can resolve this issue??? Any suggestions welcomed but maybe I'll have to bite the bullet and end up routing the cable to the first floor. Thanks!

I am not sure how far you are from the scanner if you leave it upstairs. I use this Bluetooth transmitter, it covers my whole house. Obviously you will just hear audio and have no control of the radio.

Thanks for the bluetooth suggestions. Seeing the info on the display is what I would like though. Looked up those mini PCs on Amazon and found that they are relatively affordable so I think I'll order one of those and setup Proscan on it.

I used one of them, had 4 instances of pro scan running with a multiport usb and a usb sound card. It worked great for about 2 years, then it died. For about 100 bucks I think I got my money’s worth. I used team viewer to control it so after the initial set up I did not have to leave a monitor plugged in all the time.

Very nice setup! I received the mini PC but can't get the mic to work. It has a single combo headphone/mic port on it which I've had trouble in the past with. So I ordered a USB audio adapter that has two 3.5mm ports on it, one for headphone and one for mic. Hoping that will get it going. I had everything setup and working on a desktop but need a lower profile PC.

On the mic issue, it's probably because of the privacy microphone settings.

I did come across these privacy settings and verified it was set to on. It showed ProScan with the status "Currently in use". I'm not sweating it too much. Like I said those 3.5mm combo ports can be weird. Further, regular wired headphones plugged into that port on the PC also doesn't pickup any audio so no fault to ProScan definitely something going on with the PC. Thanks for chiming in. The USB audio card will be in today and I'll probably have time to set it up this weekend. Hopefully all will be good.

@ProScan - Audio is working fine now using the new USB audio card. I've been playing around with the webserver feature for the most part and an issue has come up a least a few times over the past couple of days. The scanner display will go blank on the webpage and also in ProScan itself. Not sure yet if there is something that I'm doing to cause it. To resolve, I need to physically disconnect/reconnect the USB cable from the scanner. A reboot of the PC doesn't even resolve. I also have tried removing and adding the scanner back in ProScan which it does but display is still blank. Any suggestions? Thanks.

It looks like something with the serial port comms to the scanner. It really doesn't have anything to do with the Web Server other than that is where the problem is noticeable. I don't know if it's a cable problem or what. Perhaps when it's working, jiggle the cable to see if it goes out and that should indicate an intermittent cable connection. When you do a computer reboot, always power cycle the scanner or reinsert the USB cable after the computer reboots.
