They might well be on the Nexedge trunked system licensed to the City of Kings Mountain. There is an entry for the system in the NC database. Maybe some others can chime in with more info.

Nope. No scanner can decode NEXEDGE. You have to use DSD to decode discriminator audio on your computer.

Ok all that did was give me a headache! LOL. are you saying that I can download software that will allow me to modify my scanner to be able to listen to KMPD and KMFD?

You are going to have to be able to provide a source of discriminator audio into the computer to enable the software to decode the NexEDGE audio. So yes you have to hook your scanner or other receiving device with appropriate discriminator audio to the PC running the software required to decode whatever mode you are desiring to decode. This applies to DMR aka MotoTRBO as well. There is no commercially available scanner made today that will decode NexEDGE or DMR out of the box. You have to use an external PC running software to decode these modes until such time as a scanner becomes available on the market.

If you do the modification for your scanner, yes. The answers are all there, just read over it. Then read over it again....

Ok I don't see the 396xt mentioned anywhere, but from what I have read I need to find my scanners discriminator tap, (that I can't find) modify it, download DSD software ( which I tried and it won't download from the links), once I have completed this task i must connect my scanner to my PC via the headphone jack on the scanner to the mic input on the PC and the software will allow me to hear the frequency! does this sound correct?

You have to install the tap on your own. I wouldn't recommend doing it on your XT. Drop a few bucks on a super cheap analog non-trunking scanner, open it up, solder in the jack, and go from there. You cannot just plug it into your headphone jack, that audio is filtered and won't provide a decodable signal.

DSD is also a Linux program, and will not run on Windows.
