I am having some issues programming the Kinnelon PD into my MD-380. I have all of the color codes, time slots, and talk group ID's programmed properly, however, I do receive a signal every 10 seconds or so (To my knowledge this is IP Site Connect beaconing) however when someone keys, I do not receive audio. I should also add that I plugged the information into my XPR6550 and still am having the same issue. Could it be that it is Capacity Plus? Either the information is wrong or I programmed something improperly. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it!

Its either Cap plus trunking or it has RAS enabled.
Try it on a scanner and if it passes audio its RAS.. if you get some conversations its RAS and or trunking and you need the other freqs.

The system is networked conventional & does not use RAS.

You should only be programming the site closest to you to start, not all of them. Set the system up with only the site that gives you the strongest signal & go from there.

Yes, I only have a single repeater "site" programmed in my radio to start. Also, I am using CC1, TS1, TG (group call 1) as radio reference states. Unless someone has a scanner that picks up the proper information then I cannot go any further, since I only have an analog scanner. And 'networked' is just another term for IP Site connect.

Ok, updated info from my local source is that they in fact HAVE gone RAS.

No DMR radio will decode them. They will ignore the status headers as invalid audio. Only a scanner with recent firmware can handle this (or DSD+).

Are all of the repeater sites RAS? And if I remember correctly even with a Motorola you cannot get into the system unless you have that RAS key which is nearly impossible (unless you read the radio obviously). So I am at a halt. There is nothing I can do to receive them. Thank you for your help!

Yes to all sites on the system.

The 'promiscuous mode' on a modded 380/390 won't help with this, either.

RAS alters the data in the frame headers of the data stream itself & a radio not programmed with the proper RAS code won't even unmute, as it can't confirm that the data is actually audio.

The latest Uniden & Whistler models will only give you about 90-95% decode as well (the Whistler being the better decoder).

Only the latest versions of DSD+ will give you 100% decode, as the author implicitly wrote the software to ignore the moded data frame & then display to the user that RAS is present on the signal.

Ok thank you! I am aware that Pequannock is on RAS but I didn't think Kinnelon would go too. I appreciate your help I would have spent days trying to figure out why my radio wouldn't decode.

Reading a subscriber unit will not give you RAS key. It will show RAS enabled but they key will not be shown. THen if you program the radio you have to enter the RAS key for it to work.
