Hi Guys,

Saw the new edition (the ad, not the book) from Klingenfuss that looks pretty good.
2011/2012 Guide to Utility Radio Stations

But for the $60 or so they want for it, I'm a bit hesitant.

Anyone have it ?
Opinions ?

Is it "mainly" digital utility comms, or does it also contain a
pretty good amount of non-digital ?

Any thoughts on would be most appreciated.

BTW: where would you suggest I purchase it from, if I do ?
Thanks,
Bob

Klingenfuss Guide to Utility Stations 2011/2012

BOBRR: I have the Klingenfuss Guide to Utility Stations 2011/2012, I was looking through it to answer your questions. The book is 568 pages long of which 217 are frequencies with mode and location/usage/identifier. The rest of the book is made up of articles such as radio systems and their frequency usage. There are 144 pages of screen shots that show decodes of different modes on different frequencies from different stations.

I don't know what your interest is but I only buy the book every other year because of the cost. As NICKCARR said there is a lot of information on the internet that would be just as usable. But if you want to leave the computer off to lower the QRM a book is the way to go.

I purchased mine at Universal Radio in Reynoldsburg Ohio, I don't live to far away and bought it in the store. Their website is;

www.universal-radio.com

Hope that I helped.

I also have the book, and got it from Universal Radio. It contains a lot of information, with a couple of folded pull-out pages of tables and maps. The bulk of the book is frequency lists, computer screen prints of digital transmissions (nice to see what these signals look like), with misc reference material in the back of the book. A lot of useful data in one handy place.
A CD-ROM companion is also available separately.
It's a very sturdy book which should hold up quite well with heavy use.
Recommended.
