It would seem that not much 800 is in use in the area, it appears that only Knox County might be actively using it, the TN state police do not even appear to be using it. How good is reception in the area to pick up other counties from like the farragut area. Is there talk where allot of the are may eventually go to to 800 and or encryption. Is 800 very active for Knox county, is there much simulcast for fire etc. Thank you for the replies and anything additionally you can provide.

It is very active, it is constantly in use by Police, Fire, Sheriff, K-trans busses, UT Police..etc...
The coverage starts to decrease drastically once you get outside of the county but you can still pick them up pretty good.
Pretty much all major cities are using trunk system, Memphis, Chattanooga, Nashville are digital or switching to digital. Knoxville is still analog, but I would say they will upgrade before long.
