• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I am currently in knoxville with my new Pro-96. I also have a Pro-97 with me. I am following the Knox county trunking system and tonight I am picking up what sounds like digital traffic. The ID is 8800. My girlfriend lives over here and I am over about every other week. I have stumbled on this ID before, but just briefly.

I am not too familiar with my Pro-96 so I am not sure if it automatically decodes the digital siganal, or if a setting is needed (just got it today).

Any insight on the ID-8800??

Thanks,

It is Motorola's MOSCAD fire station alerting. When the city of Knoxville alerts a fire station you will hear this id start be for the actual tones and continue till several min after and any time a station opens it bay door or closes them.
