KOMO news helicopter crash.

I woke up to news of the KOMO 4 new helicopter crashing this morning 3/18/14 killing the pilot and videographer . And injuring a motorist . I can only speculate as to what talkgroups were used. Seattle police west dispatch, spd west tac. .Seattle fire dispatch and channel 1A

This wasn't KOMO' new copter as it is not in service yet.

The two fatalities were in the helicopter, the pilot and photographer. Neither worked for the station, but for the company that leased them the chopper. The chopper wasn't the normal one that the station used, but a loaner while their normal one was in the shop.

The helicopter that crashed was not the regular KOMO helicopter but a temporary replacement for one that's in the shop for an upgrade.

Reports are that the injured motorist's condition has been upgraded.

Harborview Medical Center reports Richard Newman has been upgraded from critical to serious condition.
