I've seen several news articles regarding the new Kosciusko County public safety 700Mhz system and recent go-live.
Believe it's P25 P2 system, but don't see this added to the RR frequency database yet.

FCC License search results came up with WRTT625 (ULS License - Trunked Public Safety 700 MHz License - WRTT625 - KOSCIUSKO, COUNTY OF).
Do I just scan the FB2 frequencies and try to figure out control channels, or is there a more elegant method?

I see 5 separate frequencies, all licensed three times. Do you know how to self program by creating your own Favorite Lists? If so, put in all 5 of the frequencies, set to ID Search and wait for the system to go on line. If it's a Harris System, you'll need to keep all 5 frequencies in since the Control Channel rotates to all 5. It also appears to be a simulcast system based on the map in the license.

Does that rotation happen every 24 hours like Motorola did in the analog days?
I found a system where the controller was flaking out and rotating channels 2 or 3 times a day. We were doing a coverage survey and after lunch we didn't see the control channel anymore, took a few minutes to figure out what was going on.

I don't know for sure, just relaying what's been posted here.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I do have a pair of RTL-SDR V.3 dongles laying around, but never really used them beyond single analog in Airspy SDR#.

I currently have BCD996P2 streaming 800MHz P25-P1 system, and want to acquire details of the new Public Safety 700MHz system so I can add to primary scanner feed.

Any suggestions for how to configure/use DSD+, Unitrunker, etc for gathering details on this "unknown" system?
Keep in mind I'm SDR n00b :)

I was able to make progress messing around with SDRtrunk. Sounds like several departments are using this system (Warsaw PD, EMS and Fire).

Is the only way to ID talkgroups by listening to audio and matching active TGID, then educated guess based on traffic?
Would be nice if we could request this mapping from the vendor who installed/manages the system.

J&K will NOT give you any info and are not required to do so by any means including an FOIA as they are an private business. As you have no valid interest as not a party involved you are not privy to any inside information. That is how this will be viewed by them. You are not part of the user train here, as not part of the County Public Safety, or an System Manager etc, so you will not gain any traction there. You can file an FOIA with the County but they can fight it for years in court. You will just have to do like the rest of us, monitor and ID it as best as you can unless you get lucky an an insider gets you an codeplug or cutsheet.

100% agree. Don't want to ruffle any feathers either.
I'll just continue to monitor and match IDs with traffic.

Happy Holidays!

Perhaps you would consider submitting this new system to the RRDB -- SysID, RFSS, SiteID, all active freqs (and which is control channel), callsign, etc.

I submitted to team a few days ago. #248252
Added supplemental notes with as much information as I currently have.
