KPG49D V4 under linux.

I am sorta kinda lost. I have KPG49D V4 software legitimately that I am using to program a TK380 radio with. The problem I am running into is I am using a adapter for USB Part # (RPC-K3U) and it won't recognize the current ttyUSB0 as a legitimate com port under Linux.

I know this might be challenging, but does anyone know by chance how I could get it to recognized the USB Dongle as a Com port? I'm pulling my hair out to get this to work...

Yeah I could use Windoze in Virtual Box I guess, but I am driven to get this darn thing working!

I know just enough about Linux to be dangerous, but with that aside, you might run the risk of bricking your radio once you do get it to read the radio. I gave up on that mission of trying to run things in WINE or other emulators a few years ago, and then recently on DOSBox. I found it easier to just give in and run it how it was intended to run on the operating software it was designed. If you do get it to eventually work, kudos to you. Good luck in your adventure!

When you run lsusb does it even see the usb side of the adapter?

I ran into some comm issues when using linux and chirp to program some amateur gear. What I found was that under my normal login account I didn't have access to the comm port you mentioned. I ended up having to run my programming software as a superuser in order to gain access to the ttyUSB0 port.

I know this isn't the exact issue you are referring to but it is something to chew on.

It's been a long time since I messed with 80 series but isn't there a DOS version of KPG49D? Could you run that under DOSBOX?
