The best thing to do is to contact your local volunteer fire department and express your interest. I can not find my list of requirements, but there is 1 that is real strong ->a willingness to be there to help your community <-

Ky requires 150 hours to be certified as a volunteer firefighte, trainging requirements can be found here...
