The KSP 800 meg system is listed in the FCC database in its various locations, it is listed in rr.com as well, in all counties. I have monitored only data noise and various clicks and whistles. Others have monitored the same types of information on the various freqs in their areas. I am asking for some help from the adventurous in Kentucky to sort this system out. If you have a spare bank in a digital scanner could you enter the freqs for the KYWINS system http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&sid=3281 near you and listen, make note of what you hear on the various freqs--including nothing--and post it here.... some of these freqs are used by other agencies/systems some aren’t. If you can identify freqs assigned to other systems that would be helpful as well. I will try to keep it all in some sort of order in my computer and then post the results when there is enough to post…

ALL HELP IS GRATEFULLY APPRECIATED!

Thanx Marshall... and everyone else.... I listened some in the Lexington area this morning.....mostly noise, a couple of data and two control channels....

EDIT:
Here's my info thus far:
As of 0400 EDT--silent except for 856.26250 -- KYWINS, Madison, hearing EDACS Control Channel sounds (this freq is part of the Lexington Public Safety System--Control 5, it is licensed to Commonwealth of KY as part of the original U.K. TRS) and 854.96250 -- KYWINS, Carrolton, hearing muffled seemingly off-freq CW sounds (this freq is licensed in Lexington to Fayette County Sheriff's Office, used for MDTs during daylight hours; also licensed to Commonwealth of KY in nearby Woodford County for MDT system statewide….) Will keep listening to see if anything else pops up.....

Again, thanx for the help!

Nothing in the Henderson area at this time. I have all the frequencies in the scanner and I will let you know what I hear.

Hi Josh.... These are the Laurel and Pulaski freqs....
KYWINS~Pulaski 855.9875 KYWINS-Laurel 855.4625
KYWINS-Pulaski r 856.2125 KYWINS~Laurel 858.9375

These are the freqs for Madison County:
KYWINS-Madison 854.9875 KYWINS-Madison 855.2375
KYWINS-Madison 855.4625 KYWINS-Madison r 855.4875
KYWINS-Madison r 856.2125 KYWINS-Madison r 856.2375
KYWINS-Madison 856.2625 KYWINS-Madison 856.7625
KYWINS-Madison 856.9875 KYWINS-Madison 857.9875

There are a number of conflicts I have found so far in the Madison Freqs.... The r's at the end of the name indicate freqs with repeats in other systems.... So far I have had to lock most of mine out because of various noises, just carrier and at least one control channel (EDACS) tx....

Again all, thanx for the help....

Here's my info report thus far.... I was bored one night earlier this week so I copied ALL of the freqs listed on the KYWINS page (all 13 sites) and put them in one bank, removed the duplicates and loaded them into the 96... I realize that these are freqs from across the state and the co-channel might not be relevant in all places.... but the fact remains I have not heard voice germane to the KYWINS system on any of the freqs--voice from other systems with the same freqs, but not KYWINS. I am not sure about the data bursts I have monitored.... keeping in mind there is a completely different system set-up thru KSP for statewide data service (and at least one of the KYWINS freqs is also in this other system) to state and local agencies....

I haven't been far enough south to check the Laurel/Pulaski mini-system to hear what that is but I am willing to bet that is only data because of the nature of the experiment there... hoping Trashman and KG4LJF will be able to report that soon....

(all channels are on delay so I can catch them when there is noise, etc... all freqs entered as MOT originally, those now showing EDACS are EDACS control channels; those with CT or FM have noises of various sorts, one is a data burts... those locked-out either stop the scanning process because of the control channel or noise transmissions)

I noticed today a large crane working with what appeared to be another microwave dish on top of WKUs Pearce Ford Tower, 20+ stories. Also noticed another antenna array. PFT is a KSP Post 3 radio site. Now tonight I'm getting a data burst signal thats breaking the s-meter on my 996 on 855.7375. Coincidence? No data or signals from any of the other KYWINS freqs yet.

I saw the crane but did not see what they were doing. In addition to the one above (855.7375) what other frequencies should I be listen for in this area?

Ben
