La cops merger with lasd

On December 15, 2009, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 to merge the County Police into the Sheriff's Department, with County Police officers either becoming deputy sheriffs or taking non sworn positions with the Sheriffs Department. The merge is planned to take effect on June 30, 2010

Perhaps New Frequency Assignments ?

Has anyone heard what frequencies will be assigned to the merged department? Right now, LA COPS is present at many locations throughout the county. After the merger, those new deputies will need a lot of tac and location specific frequencies for operations.

LACOPS is on CWIRS. When the merger is complete they will become 2 new bureaus on LASD, however County Services Bureau will handle dispatch/desk duties for County Parks Bureau. Like any other LASD patrol station or bureau they will most likely be assigned a dispatch channel and a local tactical (L-Tac) channel. What the freq's will be is not known yet to my knowledge. When TSB was created they took away a County Wide Tactical and made it the dispatch channel for TSB. When Community Colleges Bureau was created they were simply added to TSB's already existing dispatch channel. When Compton was taken over they were simply added to Dispatch 9/Carson.

So what will happen? Well I'm sure somebody has an idea but they aren't posting here. I don't think they can afford to take away another County Wide Tac channel and TSB's dispatch channel is already busy enough without adding another station to it.

The dispatch channel for both the DA's investigators and the new LASD "county services bureau" will be SCC access and the L-Tac for both will be C-TAC 2, renamed "County L-TAC", leaving one county wide tactical channel.

For the transition, OPS DISP 1 on CWIRS is currently patched with C-TAC 2/ aka County LTAC, once the transition is completed, dispatch operations will commence on SCC access.

what about the county hospital police are they patched on the C-TAC 2 freq

No, they are still on their individual on-site 800 mhz repeaters, until the repeaters are switched out with UHF ones which will happen sometime between now and June 30.
