I have my friends PRO 96 and im trying to add la mesa PD but i cant hear anything. I added frequencies and the talk groups but still hear nothing when scanning on the bank. When I upload to the scanner from arc 96 it says incorrect model on the scanner display. I have it on splinter as well.

I have the same problem. It appears that La Mesa Police Department DELETED their on-line scanner from the radioreference.com website. What a bummer? Any new info, anyone?

They're still there. On your Pro-96, program only the primary and alternate control channels for RCS SOUTH, and the La Mesa PD talkgroups... And turn splinter OFF! RCS is not a splinter system, only the San Diego City system is. Dispatch is "Station 1", and they don't talk that much.

Actually, many of the RCS cells ARE splinter. The South Cell is not.

I have always had ALL of the RCS and SD City programmed in my Uniden's as Splinter, and they all seem to work quite well.

Sorry - Can't understand what you are trying to explain. I know that La Mesa PD is digital. I have an analog hand-held Bearcat and I carry that around with me. But I get my other live feeds from RadioReference.com website. A few weeks ago they had a line item for San Diego County South RCS. It included La Mesa, El Cajon. It is no longer on the webpage (San Diego County, California (CA) Live Police, Fire, and EMS Scanners on RadioReference.com)

What is a Pro-96 anyway? I know the difference between the Dispatch 1 and Dispatch 2 frequencies for San Diego City Police. I can hear all 9 police divisions in SD plus Fire, EMS, and Lifeguard. Check out this link where I saw that Radio Reference has deleted the La Mesa/El Cajon on-line scanner:
El Cajon and La Mesa Police Live Scanner Audio Feed

Any further info, anyone? I searched and searched for another on-line scanner site besides Radio Reference. Couldn't find La Mesa/El Cajon anywhere for the Police Departments. robbycop

You hijacked another persons thread. He was inquiring about programming a PRO-96. You should have started your own thread to prevent the confusion.

Robbycop1, I was not addressing you. I was addressing the original poster, who said...

La Mesa is still there on RCS south, where it's always been for the last few years. Also I shouldn't have suggested you turn splinter off. Even though RCS south isn't splinter, if you're not sure and the system is near the border it's a safe bet to turn splinter on. From what I understand, having splinter ON in your scanner doesn't prevent you from receiving regular 800 MHz bandplan frequencies, but having splinter off DOES prevent you from receiving splinter bandplan frequencies. In other words you won't really have any detrimental effects if you turn it on.

But as far as where did La Mesa PD go, they're still there. This question comes up a lot for small departments, and the answer is usually simply that it's a small city and they don't talk as much as you think they do. :)
