This is a pretty newbie question but I'm unfamiliar with the terminology from when some of the smaller cities talk with county dispatch. How do I know when Oglesby or Dalzell is talking to county when they run a plate? What do they say to identify themselves?

According to the CARMA LaSalle County profile, Dalzell uses unit number 923, can't find anywhere that says what Oglesby uses though. Maybe they use regular sheriff unit numbers (P1-P28)? Full list is here, http://www.carmachicago.com/profiles/LaSalleCounty.pdf if you hear one that's not listed, check the location, could be them.

Oglesby PD is dispatched by themselves on 155.6100 (114.8).

I'm not sure I've ever heard 923 on the air - they would be on SO Secondary, 155.1450 (114.8) along with Utica, Lostant, Naplate, Grand Ridge, and Sheridan.

Dalzell FD is dispatched by Bureau County so Bureau County could be handling patrol duties there as well.

Can u hear Ottawa , IL, just got info that they are using 151.385 in the new "digital " mode recently licensed for....Also they have applied for a new license for 154.9875out, 155.4225out, and 158.8875in, 158.9700in narrowband freqys....Wonder if there using a "NAC" on digital....

Ron, this was submitted today from a listener:

I heard Ottawa Police on 151.385000 P25: 932. I have not heard anything on the 151.38500 CT: 1114.8 today. The P25 traffic was all encrypted.

Thank You, yes unfortunately i know "ENC" all to well as my whole city services are now that way.....Write-off more listening on a scanner from Ottawa,IL......
