So, what keeps you coming back here?

Not sure really. The entertainment value mostly. Once in a while folks like prcguy, or ramal121, that contribute valuable information with the community that I will squirrel away for future use.

I agree entirely with Kayn1n32008. He's travelled a lot of these roads and knows more about where they can be used than most of us on this site. Kind of an example on how things get derailed. Looking at the new Resource Frequencies and comparing them with my log of things heard on them and licensed users, there are a number of them licensed in Alberta. I have even heard truckers on them already. But I don't think there is any reason to list them as Alberta Open or Nationwide.

I agree. They are neither Alberta Open nor Nation wide. They are specifically licensed for use in BC only.

The 35 RR&LD frequencies are ONLY used in BC by the forest service/resource roads. They are only authorized in BC as mobile to mobile, and I beleive Ministry of Forest & Range hold licenses for them. All other users must have the 'RR' appendix added to their existing license to be able to legally use them. They are all 30w 2.5KHz deviation except for the 5 LD channels, those are 5w(I think) 2.5KHz deviation.

I'm licensed on these and keep them out of my radio in Alberta, mostly due to channel capacity. I have them in a separate file if I get requested to visit NE BC. I have no use for them in AB, and neither should anyone else.

Seen that before... Hopefully they are pointing buyers towards IC licensing.

Kinda like RR actually... Lots of words but little substance or intelligence.

My last license renewal was $46/year. If you can afford the radio you can afford the appropriate license.

Agreed. My company is licensed for them as well, and even though my LMR radio has the capacity for them, I don't have them in it either. In 8 years with my present company I have only worked in BC once, therefore I do not have them programmed in either.

I believe it is listed in the BC database as LADD 5. Regardless it is not, and I have never heard it referred to as such either.

Another piece of incorrect information in the database.

I agree, but that does not mean they will actually obtain a license, or abide by the individual frequency restrictions.

Very true, lots of radius restricted frequency assignments are used outside their designated areas. AB could be a cash cow for IC.

That and LADD-2&3 are shown as NFM but are actually wideband. None of the basic ten frequencies are narrowband. All are 16k....

I agree as well. Intermittent use of a frequency in other provinces does not qualify it as Nationwide. We have no confirmation that this frequency is used in all provinces. We also have no confirmation that all channels have seen use in other provinces.

I used to hear a distant police agency using their simplex channel quite often in my area when on the way to the range in my area. I didn't add it to the local database.

It might be best to place the channels in the Wiki with a note to check them in other provinces.

If a member really wants to listen to them outside of the licenced provinces, they can create their own scan list.

Like .. kayn1n32008 and others I will never submit to RR.
I have a solution to the inaccurate data problem, but honestly I am just not interested in going there.

If your not helping to fix the issues, could you be perceived to helping to cause, or continue the problem?

We are all in this hobby together, why can't we all just get along???
