Well, my main shack is in the barn and I have a trap dipole with the center at the top of a 35 foot tower. The tower is right outside my shack door. It takes 35 feet of RG-8 to get to the top of the tower, and another 15 feet to get to my operating desk.

I also have a 5BTV vertical that is mounted on a 18 foot length of 2" iron pipe. It has four radials per band (40, 20, 15, and 10 meters). I don't use 80 meters since the 80 meter resonator was hit by lightening and exploded. The 5BTV is about 50-60 feet from the barn so needs about 75 feet of RG-8 to get to the feed point.

Attached to my house is a 92 foot End-Fed and a 3-Element 2 Meter Yagi, with a rotor, mounted at 20 feet. For both of those I use RG8x. Again, about 50 feet to get to my operating desk.

Is there more to this question than I am reading?

K9RZZ, yes that's what I had in mind, looking into it..

Thing is, I'm not able to work dx into Europe, due to been up against a mountain side, and don't have room for a beam in the yard, so was looking into maybe doing something else......
