BOULDER COUNTY - A 16-year-old with a learner's permit turned into the path of an oncoming pickup truck Friday afternoon killing one person.

The Colorado State Patrol says the teen turned his Honda Accord in front of a Ford pickup on U.S. 287 near Lookout Road around 6 p.m.

Deputies say the teen was trying to turn from northbound 287 onto westbound Lookout Road when the Ford, which was heading southbound, hit him.

An adult female in the front seat of the teen's car was injured and transported to the hospital, and a young person in the back of the Honda was killed, according to the State Patrol.

The teen driver was also taken to the hospital. Their conditions were not immediately released.

The driver of the pickup was treated and released at the scene for minor injuries.

Both directions of U.S. 287 were closed for several hours because of the crash.
