Hi all . . . better start budgeting for a TDMA capable scanner if you want to listen to the Lake County Sheriff in 2016:

Joint resolution authorizing a contract with Motorola Solutions of Schaumburg, Illinois, to provide a Countywide Radio Communications System in the amount of $9,906,054 with an additional $646,863 of owner controlled contingency.

Lake County Board Approves New Radio System for Public Safety First Responders

http://www.lakecountyil.gov/Pages/Stories.aspx?StoryId=537

The County Board recently approved use of a new statewide radio communications system (known as STARCOM), in partnership with the Lake County Emergency Telephone Systems Board (911 ETSB), which will allow public safety personnel to communicate more effectively on a local, regional and statewide level using a common system – what’s referred to as "interoperability."

The project is a joint effort between Lake County, the ETSB and its members (which include local police and fire agencies). Dave Dato, Wauconda Fire District Chief, who also serves as the ETSB Chairman said, "The system will lay the groundwork for all public safety and public service agencies in Lake County to have access to a common platform for operable and interoperable radio communications enhancing our ability to communicate in responding to both emergency and non-emergency requests for service from the public." The board’s action approves a 15 year leased system which provides the infrastructure, equipment and technology to ensure communications needs are met today and into the future.
